No Wrong Door is a customized version of the Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) with an intent to provide public and private healthcare and personal support to the old aged and the disabled people in the state of Virginia.
The Vision of no wrong door/ADRC is to collaborate with the local community centers so as to create a network by sharing the client information securely to exclusively serve them by providing with the information so as to let the aged and disabled adults to choose their place of stay for the long term care.
To provide the long term health care, the state of Virginia has created a public private system unique in nature to serve the needs of ever growing old age population. This is to serve the needs of the aged, disabled and their caregivers whatever their condition may be.
The technical assistance for the no door is provided by the Virginia Division for the Aging (VDA) and the Division of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) at the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) in association with the Senior navigator, a non-profit organization and other local agencies.
At present twenty three of the twenty five planning districts have got the services of the local agencies with the coordination of the private partners and the advisory councils are trying to implement the “No wrong door”, by using a web based software that shares the information of the people securely.
This is a comprehensive network of clients, service providers, case management and client assessment using the CRIA (Communication referral information and assistance) to bridge the people and service providers so that the people stay at their homes and communities and avoid institutions.
The health information once recorded is sharable among various health care providers with the consent of the client in the network from any terminal.
Ready access of support information to those old aged, disabled including their supporters and caregivers is provided to people throughout the commonwealth on the website and is the gateway for the database of the Virginia Navigator.
Also email services and call services are provided to people on 2-1-1 VIRGINIA from a community’s resource specialist or by dialing the number 2-1-1 anywhere from the state of Virginia. Details may be known from the communities or else the local agency for the aging.
