Virginia Medicare is a kind of senior insurance that provides multiple health benefits to the people aged 65 years and above. There are some people with special medical conditions can also avail these insurance facility. The insurance pays for long term care, hospital stays, nursing home stays and medical expenses. The eligible person can also enjoy drug benefits under this program which is administered at federal level.

Virginia Medicaid on the other hand is a need based social insurance program that pays some or the entire medical expenses of any eligible individual belonging to low income groups. This program is funded both by the federal government and the state government of Virginia. Both the Medicare and Medicaid programs are administered by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
